“No Taarof”
Taarof (تعارف) is a Persian custom of politeness: offering something more than once before it’s accepted, insisting on paying, downplaying a compliment, saying “no” when you mean “yes.” Most of the time, it comes from genuine respect for the other person, even when what’s said isn’t literally true. Here on the blog, I skip it. What you read is what I actually think, not the polite version.
